The young Styrian Michael Röck secured the title of “Racing Rookie 2016” as well as a race-ready Ford Fiesta plus rally starting package.
“After I passed my driving test, my father signed me up,” Michael Röck smiles, “so that I would be safer.” Now the Trofaiach-based “Racing Rookie 2016”.
And with his prize, a 185 hp Ford Fiesta ST plus starting package from racing overalls to driver training, he will contest three races in the newly created M class next year as part of the Austrian Rally Championship.
500 young people between the ages of 16 and 21 took part this year in the 13th edition of “Racing Rookie”, Austria’s largest motorsport talent search (organized by Auto Revue, Ford and ÖAMTC). “In the pre-qualifications, it was off to the kart and then to the car slalom, only then were the best allowed into the rally car.” With which the 20-year-old took victory in the “Grande Finale” at the Magna Racino in Ebreichsdorf. Rally veteran Max Lampl-maier is setting up the car in Salzburg. Röck, who is studying automotive engineering in Graz, is expected to make his debut at the 2017 Lavanttal Rally.
