Here we go again!
On July 15-17, 2021, Michael was in action at the Weiz Rally, which also counts as part of the Austrian Rally Championship. After an interruption due to COVID-19, the race finally got underway again. Michael started in the new Opel Corsa Rallye 4. On the first day, Friday, Michael finished on P2. On Saturday the weather changed. Under heavy rain Michael moved up to P1. In the last two special stages it was drying up and Michael’s competitor on P2 could change to dry tires, because he carried them in the trunk.
In the end Michael finished the rally just on P2 in the 2WD classification and as winner in the Junior classification.
“I am very happy with our result. It was a long break and everything was new. In this race I had to adjust to a new car and a new co-driver. Before the race I only had 6 test kilometers.”
“That it rained so hard at midday, I never expected that it could still dry up. The Weiz Rally is a spectacle every year. There are always a lot of spectators and I love that. In addition, the special stages there are always very demanding.”
